Thumbsucking Girl
I felt that the author did a really good job capturing what the little girl felt and feels. The author is able to connect the thumb sucking to safety and security, something at almost every child did when they were little. The author makes it obvious to us that she doesn't have a lot of personal items in her life, almost as she's living out of the family car, however she does not care about anything else but her thumb. For such a short story the author did something that not every author can be, she captured the little girl's perspective.

I agree with this, especially the part about the author connecting the thumb sucking to safety and security. Most little kids use that as a security blanket and it makes them feel safe, maybe when their mom isnt around.
